As I was building up to have a better life, I started to dig into what I perceived as reality. My thought process was to go to college, to get a job, and to make more money. Then I could live a good life. My perception of life and overall well-being and personal-growth has changed since my eyes have been opening and continues to open.
Where are we headed to as we go down Perception road?
I’m Serena, and my goal is to gather up the research, resources, and thoughts that have helped me to perceive ideas about life differently. In return, to hopefully help you perceive ideas about life differently, improve your overall well-being and help excel your personal-growth.
When did I start heading down Perception road?
There was a period when I actually started questioning life on a deeper level. Wondering what the point of it was. I was working quite a bit at my new job, freshly single, dealing with all kinds of emotions such as guilt and sadness. I was also wondering what the next step was in life.
At that point, I was somewhat where I wanted to be in life, but I felt like a big part of what I imagined fell through. And what fell through hurt. Not only that, but I was also pushing myself to continue the goal I dreamed about which was to become the best I could be and become more financially stable, regardless of the sadness I was going through.
I went to college and landed a job in the auto industry and made more money than I ever have. It didn’t take long though to realize working for somebody else, wouldn’t get me to where I wanted to be. I knew this before, but it was solidified after experiencing it. I’m glad I accomplished what I did, but it was quickly wearing on me. So, I decided to take advantage of the situation.
I decided to do the opposite of the norm which is to save, invest, self-educate, focus on personal growth, and be less reliant on the system. I’m in the process of achieving this by traveling down a road of research which has been helping me to reach my destination. I’m still traveling along and making stops to build up knowledge, but it feels like it’s getting closer.
I believe that your overall life and well-being will improve by learning some rules.
It’s hard to play a game when you don’t know the rules. The Bible in Matthew 6:33 says:
33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
This was one of the earlier verses I came across that I took seriously. Don’t think of it as literally a rule, it’s a law of life, but I mean it can’t get any clearer than that. Just like without gravity we would fly away. This is foremost important before anything else since everything else falls under it. If you take time to learn some rules, you’ll be arming yourself with the right knowledge to do life contrary to the norm. It helped me to understand how and why to play the game of life differently.
I went at it from a few different angles, working on my spiritual, mental, and financial well-being. All of which plays a huge roll in my personal growth. I was curious by asking questions like, why does it seem like most people have a hard time achieving financial goals? Why do we seem to follow set rules for how to live life and according to who? Did Jesus really die for us and why? Why can’t the Bible be true? If it is true, then shouldn’t I put that above everything else since it is the manual to life? The thoughts and ideas of how to play the game are still a work in progress, but I am very thankful to God that I’m not as blind as I used to be.
Let's go down Perception Road...
And discover ways to better our well-being.
